Missing paperwork is one of the biggest reasons for delay or rejection. Use this checklist to get your documents ready early, and confirm the final list on the official notification because every state sets its own requirements.
Core documents almost every scheme asks for
- Aadhaar card of the student
- Domicile or residence certificate of the state
- Mark sheet of the qualifying exam, such as Class 12
- Recent passport-size photograph and a scanned signature
- Bank account details with IFSC code, preferably in the student’s name
- Active mobile number and email address
Documents asked in some schemes
- Income certificate of the parent or guardian
- Caste certificate, if you claim a category benefit
- Admission proof, bonafide certificate or college ID card
- Learner’s licence or driving licence
- Self-declaration that you have not taken a similar benefit
- Disability certificate, where relevant

How to scan and upload properly
Place each document on a flat surface with good light and scan it at a readable resolution. Save it in the format the portal asks for, usually PDF or JPG, and keep the file size within the limit. Name the files clearly, for example ‘marksheet.pdf’, so you can find them quickly during upload.
Check that everything matches
Your name, date of birth and parents’ names should be spelled the same way in the Aadhaar card, mark sheet and bank records. If they differ, correct them or attach a gazette or affidavit as the scheme allows. Small mismatches are a common reason for rejection.
| Document | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Aadhaar | Identity proof |
| Domicile certificate | Proves state residence |
| Mark sheet | Checks merit criteria |
| Bank details | For transfer of benefit |
| Income certificate | Checks income limit |
Keep digital and printed copies
Store scans in one folder on your phone and a backup email. Keep printed copies of the filled form and the acknowledgement because your college may ask for them during verification.
